Natura Camping on the Wild Atlantic Way
This package is the perfect getaway for couples who wish to get away from it all. Let the break start at your door, take the train/bus & free shuttle to Clifden Eco Beach for a relaxing break in a tranquil setting.
Arrival in Clifden via public transport where you are picked up from the bus station, with just 10 minutes’ drive along the Wild Atlantic Way to Clifden Eco Beach Camping & Caravanning Park. On arrival you will receive an introduction to sustainable camping and tour of the campsite with an explanation of our organically sourced spring water treatment on site and the sustainability of re-usable bottles. After the introduction we will give you a choice of suitable camping spots to choose from. After pitching the tent and settling in you can make a self-guided walk to Omey Island (depending on tide) or enjoy a walk on the beach and in the evening enjoy a campfire beside your tent, using sustainable firewood and fire lighters.
In the morning you can collect your bikes and enjoy a cycling tour along the 'Wild Atlantic Way'. The campsite is located directly on the Wild Atlantic Way Cycle Route, which boasts continuous views. A map with a choice of tours along this route will be available to you. We recommend visiting the local pubs in Claddaghduff and Cleggan for lunch as they have excellent dishes of local seafood. Provisions can also be bought along the way in the local shop in Claddaghduff. The evening can be enjoyed with a campfire beside the tent or on the beach. You have also the option to do a farm walk on your cycling tour or to get an introduction to pottery.
Option to have a self-guided walk to Omey Island if not done on the first day. Return to Clifden Bus Station.

Surf & Turf the Wild Atlantic Way
This package is all about traditional farming in Connemara, local fishing traditions and their impact today. Ideal for families and couples who are intrested in irish history and sustainability.
Arrival on site, introduction to our campsite and playing/swimming on the beach. Campfire in the evening.
Depending on the tides a self-guided walk to Omey Island in the morning.
In the afternoon Introduction to fishing with provision of fishing rod, bates and life jackets. You will get instructions on safety, how to fish from the rocks, what bates to use and how to clean the fish. You will also get information on the history of fishing, especially during the famine in Connemara, what overfishing does to the environment and how that affects all of us directly, how and why to avoid buying certain fish in the shops and what to look for in order to buy sustainably sourced fish and what labels to look for.
You will also be shown how to shrimp with the kids in rock pools at the natural harbour and how to set and bate a trace on the sandy shore at low tide, how to bate a lobster pot with the leftovers of their catch etc. In the evening you can barbecue their fish on a sustainable campfire.
In the morning visit of Killary Sheep Farm where you will gain a great insight of sheep farming practises in Connemara. You will experience traditional turf cutting demonstrations using the slean, the way it was done in the olden days gone by, sheep shearing demonstrations with the hand shears and sheepdog demonstrations where you are shown the hard work that sheep dogs do and the training that is put into them. Afterwards you can visit the Wool Centre in Leenane where you can learn the history of sheep faming and wool craft in the west of Ireland. Here vou get a chance to purchase local arts and crafts and have a lovely lunch in the coffee shop.
In the afternoon you can visit Connemara National Park which offers a great source of information on Ireland's unique peatlands and it also hosts a number of beautiful nature walks in different levels for all the family.
On this day you get a great insight from traditional farming and turf cutting in Connemara to the way this impacts the land and the local environment.
