Our Beach Campsite & Caravan Park is located on a private secluded beach at the estuary of Streamstown Bay. Unique to the  park is an eco-system called 'machair', listed as a priority habitat in Ireland under the EU Habitats Directive. This is a highly specialized & complex sand dune habitat system that is confined globally to the north West Coast of Ireland & Scotland. It comprises a flat or gently undulating sandy plain that develops in an oceanic location with a cool, moist climate resulting in rich bio-diversity with lots of interesting flora & fauna.

Sustainability plays an important role in the day to day operations of our Park. The park has been in operation since 1963 & is the first certified organic farm in Connemara.  During this period two important assements have been carried out comprising of an ecological assement & sand/gravel aquifer assement. Mitigation measures provided in these reports are crucial to the preservation  of the park both in terms of ecology & sustainability. Our Agri-tourism sustainable plan is a key element in providing a green tourism product to our visitors. Be it a motorhome, caravan or tent, you can be happy in the knowledge that your holiday is having a limited impact on the environment, this is green camping for the purist!

The campsite boasts an excellent private supply of quality approved, crystal clear, potable mineral water. Extracted from our sources beneath certified organic sand bearing soil. The mineral water, in accordance with strict regulations is delivered sterilized as a precautionary measure, to its points of use throughout the campsite. Here, you can enjoy the real taste of tea & coffee.


At Clifden eco-Campsite the night sky is spectacular due to limited light pollution on the grounds and with our eco-friendly fire pits you can star gaze along side a cosy fire with marshmallow cocktails on the beach or adjacent your plot, all adding to a romantic flare of excitement. Our location has all the attractions of 'wild camping' combined with the safety, comforts & family friendly nature that one expects from a small eco-friendly campsite. 

There are harbour facilities for boats & great fishing points by the stream all within the confines of the park. You will not find pool tables, video games, television rooms or a play ground on our park. Our philosophy is 'lets get back to nature & discover a real camping experience'!! Here individuals & families can embrace the beautiful natural amenities that surrounds them, such as the listed EU priority Machair Habitat Site. 


The campsite has personal supervision & we have also implemented child protection policies/procedures which are over seen by a qualified member of staff, ensuring a safer camping environment for children.


At Acton's, we  provide eco-tourism for the responsible camper, with the simplicity of our park being part of that attractiveness.
